The Halifax Regional Municipality and Halifax Transit are inviting residents to a reopening event for the Woodside Ferry Terminal following renovations on Wednesday, November 16 from 3 to 4 p.m..
The reopening event includes speeches from municipal representatives as well as giveaways with the opportunity to view the new terminal.
Renovations to the facility began in 2019, which included two new elevators, seven new all-gender washrooms including two barrier-free accessible washrooms, new escalators and a new entryway. This renovation made significant enhancements to accessibility, customer service, as well as supporting climate action to meet the needs of more than 2,300 passenger trips each weekday.
The newly upgraded Woodside Ferry Terminal will be one of the municipality’s most efficient facilities, with energy reductions targeting a 76 per cent savings over the 2016 baseline, representing almost $60,000 per year in energy cost savings, and aligning with the municipality’s climate action plan, HalifACT.
It will also be the first Halifax Transit facility to meet the municipality’s new Standards for Universal Access to Municipal Facilities.
