repainting furniture

We’ve needed bedroom furniture desperately for a while now. Actually it’s been about 5 years. During our last move, the moving company completely wrecked our cheapie bedroom set so I’ve been keeping my eyes open for new stuff for what seems like forever but always end up getting frustrated with cheaply made, over-priced junk that smells like toxins and leave the stores empty handed.

So I started watching kijiji for either antique furniture or at least old{er} stuff that has nice lines, is good quality and won’t cost a fortune. And score! I found our new bedroom dresser and nightstand that has very pretty curves, is solid as a rock but unfortunately {fortunately?} needs a makeover.

During naptime or while the kids are playing outside I’ve been sanding {give the little ones  a sanding wedge and they’ll do half the work for you}, filling in nicks, priming and so far got one drawer painted with one coat of paint. It’s a little daunting since it’s my first time so I’m going slow!

I can’t wait to put pretty little glass knobs on this night stand!

Anyone else paint furniture and know {or at least pretend to know} what they’re doing?  🙂
