Community Services issued a request for proposals today, Sept. 8, for help to develop stronger processes, policies, and tools to capture how programs delivered by partner organizations are helping Nova Scotians.
Many of the services delivered by the Department of Community Services are provided to Nova Scotians by external service providers and other funded organizations, which offer residential, vocation, housing, protection and other social services.
The department is looking for expert support to develop processes and systems to collect, analyze and evaluate program and financial information and provide improved methods to assess results achieved by funded organizations. Currently, approaches differ between programs and partners.
“Our service providers stretch from one end of the province to the other, doing incredible work, many of them with our most vulnerable citizens,” said Community Services Minister Joanne Bernard. “We are all committed to seeing clients achieve their best possible outcomes. To do that, we need to establish clear expectations with our partners and improve the systems for them to collect and report important information.”
This work also aligns with the department’s work to improve the delivery of its program and services announced in 2015, as well as a recommendation made by the auditor general in his June 2016 report.
