Residents invited to attend ribbon cutting for new Pavilion building at the Emera Oval

Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Mayor Mike Savage and members of Regional Council are inviting residents to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony being held next week to celebrate the recently opened Pavilion building at the Emera Oval. The new, permanent Pavilion building features indoor washrooms, an improved equipment borrowing area, and an indoor warming room.

When: Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, 1 p.m.

Where: Pavilion at the Emera Oval, corner of North Park and Cogswell Street

Following the official ribbon cutting, residents are invited to enjoy free hot chocolate, giveaways (while supplies last), and take a spin around the oval or check out the snowshoes now available for borrowing onsite, along with free skates and helmets for all age groups.

A reminder that in winter, all children 12 and under must wear a CSA-approved multi-impact helmet. A valid government issued photo ID is required to borrow helmets, skates, sledges and snowshoes.

The Emera Oval is one of the municipality’s most popular recreation facilities, with over 140,000 visitors last year.
