Residents invited to attend workshops on the Integrated Mobility Plan

Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is asking residents to think outside the traffic box during an upcoming series of workshops being held on the Integrated Mobility Plan.

The Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP) will create a regional vision for moving around the municipality, and help to direct future investment in transit, active transportation and roadways to better manage demands on the network, improving the links between residents and their communities. The plan stems from municipal policy direction in the Regional Plan for public transit, active transportation, the roadway network, and land use and growth centres.

Residents are invited to attend one of eight upcoming workshops to learn about the plan, confirm the community’s vision for regional transportation, share ideas and feedback on transportation initiatives, and begin to develop priorities and bold moves that could be considered as part of the plan.

Workshops will be held at the following locations with one session in the afternoon (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and one in the evening (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.).

• Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Cole Harbour Place, 51 Forest Hills Parkway, Cole Harbour

• Thursday, Sept. 22 at Sunnyside Mall, 1595 Bedford Highway, Bedford

• Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Exhibition Centre, 200 Prospect Road, Halifax

• Thursday, Sept. 29 at Alderney Landing, 2 Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth (3 p.m. session in Alderney Theatre Rotunda, 6 p.m. session in the Harbour East Community Council Room, Main Floor, Alderney Gate)

Please note if you are unable to attend a workshop in person, all of the material presented and key questions will be posted to http://shapeyourcityhalifax.ca/integratedmobility by 12 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22.

We encourage you to stay tuned to www.halifax.ca/integratedmobility over the next several months and participate in our future engagement opportunities; your feedback will help shape the way we move people around the region for years to come.
