Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Residents are invited to an evening of holiday fun at Sullivan’s Pond on Saturday, Nov. 29, topped off with fireworks and the lighting of the Dartmouth Christmas tree.
Children and young people can enjoy a free ride on the Kiwanis Santa Claus Express Train and visit with the Halifax Regional Fire truck and local mascots HRP Blue, RCMP Safety Bear and the Holiday Penguin. There will be carolling, music by the Crichton Park Elementary School Choir and a Christmas show by the Shops at Dartmouth Crossing.
Residents can also take part in the Efficiency Nova Scotia LED Holiday Light Exchange. Bring two sets of traditional glass holiday lights to the tree lighting ceremony and have them exchanged for one set of energy efficient LED holiday lights. Quantities are limited, so lights will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
The events get underway at 4:30 p.m. with the Christmas tree lighting at 5:55 p.m. and the fireworks over Sullivan’s Pond at 6 p.m. In the event of bad weather, the events will held at the same times on Sunday, Nov. 30.
Please note that to accommodate the events, Crichton Street will be closed to traffic and parking between Ochterloney and Dahlia streets starting at 2 p.m. Saturday. The closure will remain in place until about 9 p.m.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to travel carefully and be patient, as there will likely be some traffic delays and large crowds attending the event.
