ReTales June 1: Ray’s New Home, Keiths Growlers, Enfield Drive Thrus

I continue my trip to Montreal, and exploring great things in this city. I will have a recap of my trip next week but in thng e meantime it didn’t stop things from happening at home.

Ray’s Lebanese has found a new home in Burnside, 75 Akerley to be exact. Complete shift from his years in Scotia Square food court before being ousted. Also with the Scotia Square food court renovations have begun to completely renovate the seating area to make it more “upscale”. While the Dill Pickle leaving the food court to relocate to the also Crombie owned Barrington Place,taking over the empty space between Good Life and Boston Pizza on Granville Square.

US chain David’s Bridal is officially announced it’s opening in July beside Marshalls in Dartmouth Crossing

Sushi Jet is going to be an AYCE Asian buffet focused mostly on Sushi and Thai noodle dishes. Sushi Jet (which has another location in Winnipeg)  is the new restaurant going in the Metro Park space of doom on the corner of Granville and Salter. Mix, La Trinidade, Khabiji, and most recently Louisiana Bayouhave all failed there since Jan ’12

The Enfield Big Stop has their shiny new location, and where the old location used to be the Big Stop owners are building a Wendy’s / Tim Hortons double drive thrus on your way out of town.

Sweetleaf (on Isleville) have moved in with Kay-Cee Buy and Sell as property being re-developed to have more of a Hydrostone feel.2038

Keith’s entered the growler market, selling refillable 1.89L growlers from the Brewery Market.Guess they are feeling the impact as Haligonians continue to shift to craft beer.

Pierceys on Robie has closed being replaced by the new mini big box RONA next door on Almon St. The Bragg owned Pierceys land will continue to host Steve the Hot Dog Guy and Steve-o-Renos at least for the summer.

DYK: There are more Starbucks per capita in Canada then any other country.

  • Mugs etc opened it has since closed
  • The Shack started serving tasty seafood on the boardwalk
  • Habeneros in Burnside opened
