ReTales September 29: Coffee Corner, Starbucksmania, bye Splurge & Organic Earth

Just back from a few weeks in different Canadian cities and saw lots of chains that I didn’t know were in Canada yet, and lots of other independent  shops and ideas that we should have here.

Nestle Tollhouse Cafe is opening their first location in HRM on the corner of Spring Garden and Queen in the former Kick Ass Shoes. Starbucks and Second Cup are already on that corner, and the new Library is supposed to have a cafe. Can we go ahead and start calling that Coffee Corner

A flood of Starbucks in the last 2 weeks, when the Target stores opened in Bayers Lake, Bedford Place and Mic Mac along with them came a new Starbucks. In addition new Starbucks on Larry Uteck and Halifax Shopping Centre opened this week. 5 new Starbucks just like that

Splurge the women’s boutique under the Credit Union on Spring Garden is now closed.

Mills had their official Grand ReOpening in Spring Garden Place

The entire western based Planet Organic chain was sold but they didn’t want the Halifax store. The Halifax Store is now back in independent hands and has been renamed to Organic Earth Market, but I’ll still call it Great Ocean

and Remember City Harvest 2.0 is coming this Saturday October 5th http://ilovelocalhfx.ca already 81 listings including Halifax’s first Food Truck Rally on the Sands Of Salter
