ReTales July 7: NSLC trivia, Dowtown Matresses & Dartmouth Crossing Thai

As is typical this time of year there is not a lot of change in the comings and goings of retail stores and restos.

Not greatPretty good

Somewhere in the middle โ€” and that's okay.

Alfredo Weinstein & Ho closed in 2004, but where can I go today and get a PuPu Platter, Hoagie and Spaghetti all under 1 roof? Nowhere!  itโ€™s a great injustice of Halifax.

local jo market

I really like having, a mini market not far from my home even if LocalJo only hosts it on Thursdays.

Went to McDonalds in Dartmouth Crossing Tuesday disaster, no one knew who ordered or didnโ€™t, garbages over flowing, tables uncleaned, Coke was just water. Feedback I got from others is that is typical on weekdays for that location.

Sleep Country Canada is going to test the downtown waters by opening a store on Spring Garden Rd. in the old TD location.

Armview Food Shop on Quinpool @ Quinn is closing and being converted into a law office.

The big fancy new Spring Garden Area NSLC is no closer to being built, the Clyde St outlet and Port of Wines will be around for another 2 years.

Speaking of the NSLC the most expensive item they sell? Appleton Estates 50 year old at $5000 a bottle or ~$200 a shot.
The priciest wine in comparison is Cheval Blanc 1er Grand Cru  @ $1585 a bottle seems like a bargain.
Both are available at the port of wines.
Cheapest item? Moretti Italian Lager $2.45 a bottle onlt HRM location is at Fall River
