Richmond County RCMP seeking public assistance about serious assault, Louisdale, N.S.

Richmond County RCMP is investigating a serious assault that occurred earlier this morning in Louisdale. At approximately 1:30 a.m., Richmond County RCMP and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., Richmond County RCMP and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted.

Preliminary investigation determined that the 51-year-old victim from Arichat had been assaulted at the parking lot at the intersection of Highway 320 and Whiteside Road. The victim walked to a nearby home for help and a 911 call was made. The man was transported to the Strait Richmond Regional Hospital with serious injuries and was later airlifted to the QEII Hospital in Halifax. Assistance with this investigation was also provided by the Forensic Identification Services and Police Dog Services from Port Hawkesbury.

Police are asking anyone with information about this assault, or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area at the time, to contact the Arichat RCMP Detachment at (902) 226-2533.
