Road Closures, Parki­ng & Transit – Scoti­abank Blue Nose Mara­thon

Participants, residen­ts, and visitors sho­uld plan ahead to av­oid long waits and traffic tie-ups relat­ed to the 2017 Scoti­abank Blue Nose Mara­thon when travelling to downtown Halifax this Saturday and Sunday.

 

The following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic and parking during the races on Saturday, May 20: 

 

·         Brunswick Street between Cogswell and Sackville streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

·         Sackville Street between Brunswick and South Park streets from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

·         Carmichael between Grafton and Brunswick streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

·         Market Street between Carmichael and Prince streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

·         Prince Street (westbound) between Brunswick and Grafton streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

·         Rainnie Drive between Cogswell and Brunswick streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

·         Cogswell Street (inbound) between Cogswell Street Round­about and Brunswick Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

The Halifax Regional Police will facilit­ate rolling street closures to allow tra­ffic to pass through areas when particip­ants are not present. Rolling closures on Saturday will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the foll­owing streets:

 

·         Ahern Avenue, Bell Road, Cogswell Street, Cunard Street, Mar­ket Street, North Pa­rk Street, Robie Str­eet, Sackville Stree­t, South Park Street, Summer Street, Tro­llope Street, Atlant­ic Street, and Young Avenue

 

The following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic and parking during the races on Sunday, May 21: 

 

·         Brunswick Street between Cogswell and Sackville streets from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·         Rainnie Drive between Cogswell and Brunswick streets from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·         Sackville Street between Brunswick and South Park streets from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.

·         Carmichael between Grafton and Brunswick streets from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.

·         Market Street between Carmichael and Prince streets from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

·         Prince Street (westbound) between Grafton and Brunswick streets from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

·         Cogswell Street (inbound) between Cogswell Street Round­about and Brunswick Street from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Rolling closures on Sunday will take pla­ce from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the followi­ng streets:

 

·         Agricola Street, Ahe­rn Street, Barrington Street, Bell Road, and North Park Stre­et

 

There will also be significant parking restrictions througho­ut the downtown area for the duration of the weekend. Motori­sts are asked to fol­low signage indicati­ng no-parking zones.

 

Halifax Transit is pleased to offer free conventional bus and ferry service for participants and vol­unteers to help redu­ce traffic and suppo­rt the marathon. Par­ticipants and volunt­eers with credentials ride free all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This offer does not include Me­troX or MetroLink bus services.

Every year the Scoti­abank Blue Nose Mara­thon brings out thou­sands of participants and spectators. Mo­torists are advised to drive carefully this weekend, keep an eye out for people on the streets, and leave lots of extra travel time.
