Road Closures – Switch Downtown Dartmouth 2019

Friday, May 31, 2019 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that a number of streets in downtown Dartmouth will be closed to vehicles on Sunday, June 2 for Switch Downtown Dartmouth 2019.

Vehicles will not be permitted on the following streets at the following times:

  • Portland Street between Alderney Drive and King Street from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wentworth Street between Portland and Green streets from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Portland Street between King Street and Prince Albert Road from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Prince Albert Road between Portland and Hawthorne streets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Motorists are encouraged to take an alternative route if they need to travel through that area.

SWITCH RAIN PLAN

We’re getting lots of inquiries about this, as the current forecast is calling for rain.

Bottom line: THERE IS NO RAIN DATE. We still plan to run the event on Sunday, as long as the weather conditions are not unsafe to proceed. AN OFFICIAL JUDGEMENT CALL ON CANCELLING SWITCH WILL BE MADE BY 10 AM SUNDAY MORNING.

This decision will be posted on our FB event page and all other social media channels.

If the forecast calls for light drizzle or passing showers, we will proceed with the event.

Fingers crossed! We’re monitoring the weather closely, and the forecast seems to vary from hour to hour
