An independent human rights board of inquiry in the case of Robyn Atwell v. Halifax Regional Municipality will begin Tuesday, Aug. 23, in Halifax.

Sgt. Atwell alleges that she was discriminated against on the basis of her race and/or colour, as well as her gender, during the course of her career with Halifax Regional Police.

The board of inquiry will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission Board of Inquiry Hearing Room, 5657 Spring Garden Rd., Park Lane Terrace, Suite 305.

The board chair is Lynn Connors, who is independent of the commission, which is a party representing the public interest at the board of inquiry.
