Rolling Street Closures – CIBC Run for the Cure

Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents there will be rolling street closures and some traffic delays in downtown Halifax on Sunday, Oct. 4, during the annual CIBC Run for the Cure.

The one-kilometre walk and the five-kilometre run both begin at 10 a.m. at the Garrison Grounds on the corner of Sackville and Brunswick streets.

From there the participants will head east on Sackville, south on Brunswick, west on Spring Garden Road, south on Queen Street, west on Morris Street and University Avenue, east on Bell Road, north on Ahern Street, east on Cogswell Street, south on Brunswick and finally west on Sackville, finishing at Bell Road. The 1K route will go west on Sackville, north on Summer Street and southeast on Bell to finish at the same location.

Motorists should expect traffic delays in the downtown area during and after the event, and are encouraged to use alternative routes, if possible. Halifax Regional Police will be on hand to assist with traffic control.

The CIBC Run for the Cure is an annual event held across the country to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The run is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause. For more information on the CIBC Run for the Cure, please visit www.runforthecure.com.
