(Tuesday, July 23, 2013) – Mayor Mike Savage is partnering with a local gallery Argyle Fine Art to exhibit the work of local artists in his office. The pilot program’s inaugural exhibition features a series of playful, realist paintings by artist Steven Rhude.

“It struck me that with the full schedule of people I have coming in for meetings I could use the office as a backdrop to feature works of art so that the diverse talents of our city’s artists could be appreciated by as many people as possible,” said Mayor Savage. “I was so pleased when Argyle Fine Art offered to extend their services.  The comments have been so positive about the current pieces that are on view, and we are pleased to highlight the incredible work of artists like Steven and hopefully introduce them to new and receptive audiences.”

About the Artist:
The work of Steven Rhude is an ongoing visual documentary of maritime coastal life. Aspects of this life are shared with us through his use of composite imagery, common and uncommon symbols, and the representation of cultural artifacts. Drawing directly from his immediate experience and environment, Steven has accumulated a collection of visual metaphors, which exert their appeal upon us as we discover in them emotion both animated and deeply poetic.
