HRP release:
On January 11 at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers were conducting a traffic checkpoint on the Bedford Highway, near Bayview Drive. At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle and spoke with the driver who was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. At the time of arrest, officers located and seized two firearms, a crossbow and a quantity of money and drugs. The passenger was also arrested.
Tyreece Whynder-Ewing, 31, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Transport firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (x2)
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm-no license/certificate
- Possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon/ammo-no license
- Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
- Tampering with serial number on firearm
- Possession of a firearm contrary to order/fail to surrender (x2)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000.00
- Laundering proceeds of Canadian crime for a criminal organization
- Operation of a conveyance while impaired to any degree by alcohol or drugs or a combination of both
Shaquille Johnson, 32, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
