September 7th, 2012, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM)….. On Friday at approximately 19:44 hours the RCMP from Halifax District and several trucks from HRM Fire Services responded to an incident involving a travel trailer that had caught fire, while it was being driven outbound towards Miller Lake, on Hwy 118 between exits 13 and 14.

The two occupants of the 1989 Sun Vista travel trailer were not aware the front of their vehicle was on fire until waved over by another motorist. Both of the occupants were able to unhook and save a race car on a trailer that was being hauled by the travel trailer. No one was injured but the travel trailer was completly destroyed by the fire. Both sides of the highway had to be closed for approximately one hour due to a 100 lb propane tank that was on the travel trailer. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
