After a marathon late-night debate at city council on Tuesday night, the controversial sale of St Pat's Alexandra was reversed in a vote of 17-4.

Council voted to have city staff produce a report on the processes that were – or were not followed leading up to the St Pat's sale.  It's not clear whether or not the daycare in the building will still have to relocate.

Council approved the sale of the property in December.   Community groups opposed the sale, saying HRM didn't allow a public consultation period.

After a lengthy debate that included a half-hour in-camera meeting, a decision that pleased a large group of community members including Rev. Rhonda Britton was reached.

The existing property appears to be safe from demolition, at least until the staff report is completed.
