Schoolteacher charged after child assaulted

West Hants District RCMP has charged a woman with assault in relation to an incident involving a child at a school on Hwy. 1 in c.

On April 11, 2022, West Hants District RCMP received an assistance request from the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services which prompted an investigation into an incident involving a teacher and a student at a school on Hwy. 1 in Three Mile Plains.

Officers learned that on April 7 a teacher was witnessed pushing a student in a classroom causing the child to hit their head on the floor. The incident was promptly reported. 

Through the investigation, officers gathered further evidence and arrested the teacher, a 27-year-old woman from Falmouth, at Windsor West Hants Detachment on April 26, 2022. The woman is facing a charge of Assault and will appear in Windsor Provincial Court on June 14, 2022, at 10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the West Hants District RCMP.  No further details about the incident or the victim will be released in consideration of the victim and their family.
