Scotiabank Centre Capital Improvements Update

A tender is being issued for the Scotiabank Centre seating replacement project today, Dec. 17.

The new seating is part of a multi-year capital improvement project funded primarily through the naming rights partnership with Scotiabank, which includes more than $7.4-million for facility upgrades.

The facility’s 36-year-old seats and portable risers will be replaced with comfortable, modern seating for customers. The upgrades are estimated to cost $3-million and are expected to be completed by next fall.

Based on customer input, several other capital upgrades are planned for 2015-16. Work has begun to expand the concession area for better traffic flow, which will be finished by the end of January.

Washroom renovations will begin next month and will be completed by fall 2015.

Scotiabank Centre opened its doors in 1978 and has hosted some of the region’s most memorable events, including artistic performances, major sporting events and concerts. The facility is also the official home of the Halifax Mooseheads, Halifax Rainmen and Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
