Scotiabank Centre to see more upgrades as naming rights deal continues

Scotiabank has renewed its naming rights partnership for Scotiabank Centre for another five years, ensuring the venue remains a key hub for sports, entertainment, and community events in Halifax.

The Scotiabank Centre, home to the Halifax Mooseheads, Halifax Thunderbirds, and the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, has been a central part of the city since 1978. Over the past five years, it has hosted over 600 events, welcomed 2.8 million guests, and contributed $226 million to the local economy.

“As our city grows, Scotiabank Centre will continue to be a key part of downtown Halifax,” said Mayor Andy Fillmore.

Investing in the Future

The partnership renewal will allow for continued upgrades and improvements to the facility. Since 2014, Scotiabank’s support has helped fund over $5 million in renovations, including new seating, an HD scoreboard, LED lighting, and expanded concessions. Future plans include new digital signage and facility enhancements.

Scotiabank is also re-launching the free weekly Noon Skates program, starting March 11, as part of its commitment to community engagement.

“This partnership has created incredible opportunities for Halifax,” said Nicola Ray Smith, Senior Vice-President, Atlantic Region, Scotiabank. “We are excited for what’s next.”

A Community Landmark

With major events like the JUNO Awards, IIHF World Junior Championship, and Memorial Cup hosted at the venue, Scotiabank Centre remains one of the premier entertainment and sports facilities in Atlantic Canada. Upcoming events include the 2025 AUS Basketball Championships, 2025 Canadian Curling Trials, and 2026 University Cup.

Suzanne Fougere, Executive Vice-President of Events East Group, emphasized the venue’s impact: “We create unforgettable moments here, and this renewal ensures we can continue attracting world-class events to Halifax.”

The partnership between Scotiabank, Events East Group, and Halifax Regional Municipality will help keep Scotiabank Centre at the heart of the city’s cultural and economic growth for years to come.
