Police continue ground and aerial searches in Canoe Lake area in effort to find Mary (Molly) Martin.
Yesterday afternoon, police located evidence, including a campsite and green ATV, of Martin and Darcy Doyle being in Canoe Lake in Southeast Cape Breton. RCMP and Cape Breton Regional Police have ground searches underway and aerial surveillance using helicopters from the RCMP and the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forestry continues.
The Canoe Lake area is dense and heavily wooded with numerous ATV and walking trails. Police have been in the area since early yesterday and continue to ask residents of the area to call with any tips or sightings. Evidence indicates Martin and Doyle were still in the Canoe Lake area yesterday afternoon, however, there is a possibility the two are outside of this area. Martin and Doyle are believed to be on foot.
Martin is described as Indigenous, 5-foot-1 and 100 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She has a rose tattoo on her left forearm and may be wearing eyeglasses. Martin is believed to be with Darcy Doyle, 47, from Mira Gut. Doyle is described as 6-foot tall, 190 pounds, with long black hair, a full beard and moustache, and brown eyes.
Multiple RCMP detachments and the Cape Breton Regional Police Service are collaborating on the investigation and continue to follow up on each tip.
