Season of Change

Happy September!  A new month, a fresh start and a change in the season. 🙂

Today was the hottest day of Summer yet, humidex of 43C (109F) Eff me.  As soon as I stepped out of my office I was sweating.  I’m really looking forward to some rain on Saturday so this humidity can finally break. (Just a little rain, the hurricane can totally avoid us please!)  Our house is like a sauna –  hubby and I went for a drive tonight, blasted the AC and got iced coffees.  🙂 Sadly, tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter.

You know I was all about NOT cooking tonight.  I thought about going out to the local pub but then decided against it for 2 reasons  – 1) I could get way more food from the grocery store with the $40 we’d spend AND 2) I wanted to stay on track and eat well.

Instead, we had caesar salads & chicken wraps.

No, the wraps aren’t bad they are spinach tortillas! 😉  Stuffed full of left over chicken mixed with salsa, a sprinkle of cheese & spinach.  Zapped in the microwave for a minute.  Yes, I microwaved supper. *gasp*

Caesar salad was made my way – baby spinach, Renee’s Light Caesar Dressing, bacon bits, fresh croutons from the Farmers Market & shredded parm. Mmm, told ya I couldn’t get enough of salads.

It was nice to be able to have something ready in 5 minutes and leave the stove alone.

Figures the hottest day of the year would be the first day of the 30 Day Shred Challenge.  I was really less than enthused to work up even more of a sweat then I already had but…

Before:

I started at Level One using 3 lbs weights.

The house was still really warm and I wanted to quit after 2 minutes.   My yoga mat was full of sweat.   ICK ICK ICK.  But I made the commitment to myself and stuck it out.  Afterwards I had a cold shower and a big glass of h20.  I’m glad I worked out and didn’t just use the heat as an excuse to bail.

After:

For those of you doing the 30 Day Shred Challenge, how did you make out with your first session?

Going to leave you with a few things:

  • I’ve decided to extend the Operation Beautiful Book Giveaway until Friday evening. For whatever reason there hasn’t been a lot of entries but I do want to give you guys a few more days to enter if you’re interested.
  • Tomorrow is the Eat Atlantic Challenge.  I’m excited to eat entirely local foods and will be blogging ALL of my meals!
  • Extra long weekend is just around the corner – depending on the Hurricane situation, we have a big hike planned, plus I’m taking a road trip with my Mom down the South Shore on Monday.  Pretty excited!
  • I’ve gotten lots of tweets/blogs from people saying they tried the Crispy Buffalo Chicken Bites and loved them, yay! I love getting feedback like that!

Okay, off to relax with hubby.  Night bloggies!
