Second Quarter Results

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) released its second quarter results today, Oct. 30, for July 2 to Sept. 30.

The growth in local product categories continues to be strong. Nova Scotia spirit sales led this growth with a 34.7 per cent increase in sales to $2.2 million. Nova Scotia craft beer sales were up 32.3 per cent to $5.2 million while Nova Scotia wine sales, using locally grown grapes, grew by 6.7 per cent to $3.8 million. Ready-to-drink products, which are mostly ciders, increased by 26.6 per cent, to $1.8 million.

Compared to the same period last year, net income was $70 million, down $800,000, while total sales were up by $5.4 million to $182.2 million. The total volume of alcohol sold was up 2.9 per cent and the average dollar value of each transaction decreased by 3.4 per cent.
