Seeing the World, Seeing London

“By seeing London, I have seen as much of life as the world can show.”
– Samuel Johnson

It feels like forever since we started planning this move to London. I’m not sure why because it’s only actually been about a month in the works, which isn’t a lot of time to plan a move across the ocean. Regardless, tomorrow is finally the day and I can barely keep my composure this morning!! I can’t stop fidgeting and can’t sit still. My anxiety is through the roof and all I can think about is getting there and getting my routine started (all in a good way of course).

We’ve been homeless for the past two weeks because initially we were supposed to leave at the beginning of September, but things kept getting changed and our leave date kept getting pushed back. Thank goodness we have amazing friends and family that have let us stay with them over the past two weeks, otherwise we would have been sleeping in the car.

Last week, to keep some sort of regularity in our lives, we started with a great gym routine including kettlebell training with Coach Guthrie. I’ve done lots of kettlebelling (is that a word) over the past 6 months and I have to tell you, I’ve never had anyone yell, motivate and inspire me to workout as hard as he’s gotten me to workout over the past 9 days. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone push me as hard as he has been able to in my entire life, and I played a lot of competitive hockey and rugby in my day. We trained with him Monday, Wednesday and Friday last week and this week. On top of that, I was doing my own workouts on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and then training Gina and working out with her those same days, in the evening. I know, I know… Foolishness! But I had to get rid of that 10 lbs I put over the previous month and it was a great stress reliever.

Today I’ve got some lose ends to tie up with some design clients before I take off, I’ve got to meet with a client that I’m doing work for while over in the UK and I’ve got to go get fitted for my tux for my best friend’s wedding, which is New Year’s Eve, 3 days after we get back. Tonight I have my last volleyball tournament (even though it’s actually the first volleyball tourney of the year in Halifax) and tomorrow, to keep myself busy, I’m playing the first two games of my slow-pitch softball league playoffs and then packing and doing everything I can to stay busy so that I’m not just sitting around and waiting for our flight driving myself and the missus nuts.

My next post will officially be from cheery ‘ol England and I may have an accent by then. So until then, “Pop, pop and all that jazz” (that’s British, right?) and I’ll talk to you soon!
