Seniors Network Update – Feb 2010

Weekly Get–Togethers:

Every Wednesday, from l:00 pm to 3:00 pm seniors from the area meet at the Whites Lake Legion to socialize. They play cards, boardgames, darts and even shoot pool! HRM Recreation support these activities by contributing to our supplies such as crib boards, cards, darts and various other recreational supplies. Everyone is asked to donate $1 to cover their coffee / tea for the afternoon and some members usually bring in treats.

Prior to the games, there’s an exercise class (from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm.) For more information, call Jan @ 852-3562

Bus Trips:

Average two trips per year. These trips are chosen by the members. For more information, call Pauline @ 852-3653

Guest Speaker:

On March 10th at 1:30 pm a member of the Alzheimers’ Society will be giving a FREE presentation (Heads up for Healthy Brains) at the Whites Lake Legion. It deals with the basics of dementia; getting a diagnosis and ways to help reduce your risk factors. Questions are welcomed.

If you are interested in any of the above, just drop in to the Legion on Wednesdays between 1:00 pm & 3:00 pm and introduce yourself. You will be made welcome directly!
