Seventh Annual Halifax Hopscotch Festival

Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – We’re just a few days away from an exciting weekend of events being held for the seventh annual Halifax Hopscotch Urban Arts Festival, headlined by hip hop legends DJ Premier and Classified. The festival kicks off at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, with the Industry Welcome Event at Seven Bays Bouldering, featuring nine artists from the United Kingdom. On Friday, Sept. 30, an interactive Live Art Jam will take place at Dartmouth Cove. This free event will feature more than 10,000 square feet of new live art being created by artists from all over the world. Watch as old walls are transformed by art throughout the evening, as well as other live entertainment including break dancing and the Bedford-based OnSet Dance troupe. Stop by the Company House on Friday night for a Welcome Back event featuring Kayo, Quake Matthews, Alfie, and a special performance by Marvine Divine. Tickets are $7 and $9 at the door. The festival’s main event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Citadel High School’s Spatz Theatre. Don’t miss performances by emerging and established hip hop artists followed by headliners Classified, and other special guests. The Grand Finale in the Spatz Atrium features New York Super Producer DJ Premier. Premier is credited with creating songs for hip hop talents Eminem, Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac and many more.
