Several incidents throughout Halifax area kept police busy overnight

Child hit by car in Dartmouth

A five year old boy, along with family members, were attempting to cross Nantucket Ave. Dartmouth, at 355pm in a non-crosswalk portion of the street when a vehicle travelling east bound ran over his foot. The youth was taken to the IWK where he was treated for a non-life threatening leg injury. The incident is still under investigation. No charges have been laid at this point.

Stabbing in Dartmouth

East patrol units responded to a report of a disturbance in the 100 block of Bras Dor Lane Dartmouth at 1148pm. They located an 18 year old male in a nearby parking lot with non-life threatening knife wounds to his head and shoulder area. Officers spoke to several people in the area, including the victim, but did not receive any cooperation with respect to what had happened. Evidence suggests that the assault took place in a parking lot on Bras Dor Lane where a knife was located. The victim was treated at the hospital for his injuries and released. It is believed the victim and suspect(s) are known to one another.

Break and Enter in Halifax

Central members responded to a report from a nearby resident, that a male suspect had forced in a ground level window to Hong Jun Restaurant, 5677 Brenton Place Halifax at 1246am. Police located the 43 year old male suspect on Spring Garden road where a small quantity of cash was found on the suspect belonging to the restaurant. The suspect has been charged with Break Enter and is being held for court this morning.

Attempted theft Bedford

At 119am, a resident living in the 100 block of James Windfield Lane Bedford, noticed a male suspect dressed in dark clothing enter his vehicle parked in his driveway. The suspect fled the area on foot without any property but was later apprehend by police with the assistance of the police K-9 unit a short distance away on the same street. The 15 year old youth is facing charges of attempt theft from motor vehicle, trespass by night and breach of his undertaking. He has been held for court in the morning.
