Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
Smoke from distant forest fires may cause a reduction to air quality this afternoon into Wednesday.
Smoke from forest fires in western Canada is expected to spread over Nova Scotia this afternoon. While most of the smoke will remain aloft, some may descend to near ground level causing reduced air quality. Associated haze will likely give the sun a reddish appearance.
