Sex assault near transit terminal leads to charges

Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in Halifax earlier this year.

On May 1 police received a report of a sexual assault that had occurred that day in the area of the Mainland Common baseball field adjacent to the Halifax Transit Lacewood Terminal. At approximately 1 p.m. a man approached a woman who was not known to him at the transit terminal, luring the victim to an area of the baseball field and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators arrested the suspect on September 6 at an address in Halifax.

Donald George Loppie, 35, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face one count of sexual assault.
