Sexual assault at Mainland Commons

Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in Halifax earlier this week.

On May 1 police received a report of a sexual assault that had occurred earlier in the day in the area of the Mainland Common baseball field adjacent to the Halifax Transit Lacewood Terminal. At approximately 1 p.m. a man approached a woman who was not known to him at the transit terminal, luring the victim to an area of the baseball field and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a Black man in his 30s, approximately 5’9” tall, thin build with brown hair and facial hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured winter jacket and sweatpants.

We are not releasing any further details out of respect and concern for the victim’s privacy and well-being.
