It’s not every day that I get invited to a fancy shindig for fellow bloggers…So when the Downtown Business Commission invited yours truly to be among the anointed for the launch of the Big Day Downtown, I was in like flynn.

So, I sashayed down to the atrirum at Pipa on Argyle to sip sangria and get the scoop on this unique initiative to promote downtown businesses. (Cue sangria shot…)

Anywhooo…Just what is the Big Day Downtown? Well, it seems the Downtown Business Comission is feeling brave, and is recruiting Hali’s finest bloggers to take a $100 VISA gift card and spend a day spending it all in Downtown Halifax. On what, you ask? Well, pretty much anything you want (as long as it’s legal, haha…)…so that can be food, drink, clothing, home decor, anything…as long as it’s DONE DOWNTOWN. Oh, and then (since we’re all blogging folk)…we have to write about it.

It’s tres exciting for me…as it means shopping with someone else’s moola-boola (!!!!). So, I have come up with a theme…entitled: Five Fashionable Frugalista Finds. I will use my hundred dollars to score five fab finds at downtown boutiques, which I will then craft into a fashionable outfit! I have some secret spots in mind already…and you will get to follow/live vicariously through me along the way! I’ll be hitting the streets of Hali in the next few weeks and posting shortly thereafter…so stay tuned!

I’m not one to hog all the attention, so I must mention that about 40 bloggers are doing the same thing…Among them are: fashionistas Ally and LA of Fashionable People, Questionable Things (I have a big heart for them!
