If there’s a shrimp ring in your freezer waiting for Thanksgiving, check the box before you thaw it.
Loblaw Companies Limited is recalling two shrimp and cocktail sauce products sold across Canada because they contain mustard that isn’t listed on the label, according to a Government of Canada recall notice posted Tuesday, Oct. 6.
The risk is to anyone at your table with a mustard allergy. The recall is listed as Class 2, and the notice doesn’t mention any reported reactions.

Somewhere in the middle — and that's okay.
These are the two products, both with mild cocktail sauce:
- SeaQuest Shrimp Ring, 454 g, UPC 0 60383 18047 8
- President’s Choice Black Tiger Shrimp, 568 g, UPC 0 60383 18048 5
The SeaQuest rings are the ones to watch. Their recalled best before dates run all the way from November 2026 to July 2027, so a ring bought weeks ago and tucked away for the holiday could be on the list. The dates are 2026 NO 05, 2026 NO 06, 2026 NO 26, 2026 NO 27, 2027 MR 04, 2027 AL 27, 2027 MA 07, 2027 JN 10, 2027 JN 11, 2027 JN 15 and 2027 JL 13.
The President’s Choice shrimp carry best before dates of 2026 OC 06 and 2026 OC 07. Those dates have passed, but a package picked up last week could still be in the fridge.
If the brand, size, UPC and best before date on your package all match, the notice says not to eat, serve or give it away. Shrimp rings are a holiday-weekend staple, and Thanksgiving is Monday, Oct. 12, so it’s worth a look before the guests arrive.
