Nova Scotia’s favourite groundhog, Shubenacadie Sam, is ready for his annual webcam debut, just less than two weeks before his big spring prediction.
You can now watch Shubenacadie Sam live online before the Groundhog Day ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 2, at the provincial Shubenacadie Wildlife Park.
“He is Sam Cam ready,” said Natural Resources Minister Lloyd Hines. “I encourage everyone to watch Sam online and join us outside his home at the park as he makes his annual winter weather prediction on Groundhog Day.”
The best times to tune in to the Sam Cam are 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., when he gets fed. The Sam Cam is live at www.novascotiawebcams.com/en/webcams/shubenacadie-sam/.
People can come see Sam in person at the park on Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Groundhog Day ceremony. If Sam does not see his shadow that morning, folklore says we will get an early spring! If you are not able to join us in person that day, you can join the party via the Sam Cam.
For more information about Sam, follow him on Twitter @ShubenacadieSam or keep up to date with the provincial Shubenacadie Wildlife Park by liking them on Facebook or via their website http://wildlifepark.novascotia.ca.
