Work continues at the Canal Greenway Park as workers continue to assemble a full-scale reproduction of the flume house right where the original once stood.

“The flume house is being built on top of the recently uncovered turbine chamber. This same chamber was used by the Starr Manufacturing plant to make their skates. The reproduction of the building will be at the same location as the original, which was built over 150 years ago.

This model, in tandem with the boat cradle that is already at the Canal Greenway Park, will provide visitors with an accurate representation of what this section of the canal looked like, and enhance their understanding of how the Shubenacadie Canal operated.”
