Singer/songwriter victim of coyote attack on CBI

A 19-year-old woman has died as a result of injuries sustained in an attack by two coyotes on Cape Breton Island Tuesday afternoon.

At 3:15 p.m., Cheticamp RCMP received a 911 call that a lone hiker was being attacked by two coyotes on the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton Highland National Park.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Mounties found a 19-year-old female in serious condition. She was airlifted to a hospital in Halifax for medical attention but later died.

RCMP have since released the name of the victim. Taylor Mitchell, whose birth name was Taylor Josephine Stephanie Luciow, was a singer/songwriter from Toronto, Ontario. She was on an East Coast tour promoting the release of her C.D. “For Your consideration”.

When police arrived at the scene of the attack on Tuesday, an RCMP officer shot and killed one of the coyotes. The other coyote escaped into the woods.
