At 3:15 p.m., Cheticamp RCMP received a 911 call that a lone hiker was being attacked by two coyotes on the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton Highland National Park.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Mounties found a 19-year-old female in serious condition. She was airlifted to a hospital in Halifax for medical attention but later died.
RCMP have since released the name of the victim. Taylor Mitchell, whose birth name was Taylor Josephine Stephanie Luciow, was a singer/songwriter from Toronto, Ontario. She was on an East Coast tour promoting the release of her C.D. “For Your consideration”.
