SiRT release:

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating a fatality and serious injuries following an attempted traffic stop in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

Preliminary information suggests:

  • In the early morning of October 18, 2026, a member of the Kings District RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle travelling at a high speed in downtown Wolfville.
  • The driver did not stop and continued out of the downtown area.
  • The RCMP officer was then in a single vehicle collision outside of Wolfville, and shortly afterward, the vehicle that had fled police was involved in a separate single vehicle collision in Grand Pré.
  • That vehicle was occupied by five people. One young adult male was pronounced deceased, and the other four occupants were transported to hospital, with serious injuries. The RCMP officer was transported to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

SiRT received a referral from the RCMP in the early morning of October 18, 2026, and after a review of initial information has begun its investigation.
