RCMP release:

Last night, RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment and Southeast Traffic Services officers arrested three impaired drivers in a six-hour period. 

On December 12, at approximately 6:10 p.m., RCMP officers received a report of a Mazda 3 driving erratically on Hammonds Plains Rd. in Upper Tantallon. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was completed. The driver, a 44-year-old man from Mahone Bay, was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and transported to the Tantallon RCMP Detachment, where he provided breath samples of 160mg% and 150mg%.

Later that night, at approximately 11:58 p.m., an RCMP officer from Southeast Traffic Services completed a vehicle stop on a Chevrolet Sonic travelling on Windmill Rd. in Dartmouth. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Halifax, provided a roadside breath sample into an approved screening device (ASD) which resulted in a “fail”. He was arrested and transported to the Cole Harbour RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples that registered 80mg% and 70mg%. He was issued a seven-day driving suspension.

Ten minutes later, a Hyundai Veloster stopped at an RCMP checkpoint on Beaver Bank Rd. in Beaver Bank. The driver, a 33-year-old man from Lower Sackville, provided a roadside breath sample into an ASD which resulted in a “fail”. He was arrested and transported to the Lower Sackville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples that registered 130mg% and 130mg%.

Impaired driving is a leading cause of fatal and serious collisions in Canada. Anyone who observes a driver who appears to be impaired should call 911 immediately.
