We got a sneak peek of downtown Dartmouth’s latest, and pretty unique to the area, attraction.
Tic Tac Go Escape Room & Games is set to open this week, and final touches are being carefully finished as the steampunk era clock ticks down.
First an escape room, this will surely bring the clever and the curious down to test their wits. With the opening theme being based on rail, Rebecca Sarah Potvin says this is not only a fun theme for an escape room, being trapped in the car of a spooky old train, but there are subtle hints of maritime history to be found throughout the room. And having a Quebec / Maritime connection is important to the family run business, which offers service and games in both official languages.
Starting with the decore, right from the start your eyes will be drawn to both subtle and less subtle displays. With a strong steampunk theme to the general gathering areas, you will observe some pretty creative and locally built displays.
The experience expands not just to the main attraction, but also looking to offer a gaming room for those who are interested in any type of game, including roleplaying games, board games and so on. A large room filled with tables midway down the hall offers a place to wait for your turn to enter the main attraction, a place to mingle, and a game room. As the family owned and run business grows, they are hoping to add food and snacks to add to the comfort and enjoyment of their services.
So what is an escape room? You and up to 5 others enter a themed room and will have one hour to complete the mission to“escape” the room. To win and escape you will have to find hidden clues and solve challenging puzzles throughout the room. You will need to take a close look at every item in the room, some which will lead you in the right direction, some which may be misleading, and some that are not helpful at all, so you and your team will have to develop a system to work together as needed, or split up and cover more ground. Putting your clues together will either lead to a successful escape or doom.
Currently, teams of 3 to 6 people can enter the room. It’s ideal to currently book online but walk ins are welcome, and more info can be found at their website (info below) There will be an eventual expansion to another room which will double as both a game themed room as well as escape room. More info on that will also be on their website.
Props for this family run escape room come from local builders who work in the film industry, making the authentic look and feel of the themed room realistic and believable. The themes will change over time will be advertised of the new upcoming themes provided on their website. Regardless of theme, look for a touch of Quebec / Maritime flare somewhere in each theme.
This escape room brings an entertaining and unique touch to downtown Dartmouth Links to their webpage and contact info can be found at the bottom of their invitation to join them opening night.
(PS: We won’t show the bulk of the escape rooms, you will have to go see this!)
