On April 3, the RCMP was called to investigate a fatal structure fire which resulted in the death of a 27-year-old woman. Nova Scotia RCMP has now determined that the death was a homicide.
East Hants District RCMP was called to a structure fire on South Rawdon Rd. at 9:12 a.m. on April 3. The fire occurred in a garage which was detached from an adjacent home. Two young children were rescued from the home. The Nova Scotia Fire Marshal’s Office was called to assist with the investigation into the cause of the fire, it is believed to have been intentionally set. An autopsy was conducted on April 4 by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service.
This incident has been actively investigated by Nova Scotia RCMP’s Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit since April 3. Police have obtained warrants and have searched two homes in Lower Sackville during the investigation. The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been laid. The RCMP continues to request assistance from the public in order to find out the circumstances that led to the death.
