Blog: How I did over Christmas…

At the beginning of December I was a part of a group of Haligonians that contributed to EastCoastByChoice.ca with some “Healthy tips for the holidays“.  If you missed them, the jist of it was “don’t over indulge”.  Pretty simple, right?  Maybe not…

In the past few weeks I saw a side of me I haven’t seen in a while… A side we use to call “Fat Scott”.  I always joke about how “Fat Scott” is dead and that I killed him, but to be honest, he’s alive and well and I have to kick his ass back into submission every once in a while.

For some reason over the holidays I had it in my head that I could get away with not working out and stuffing my face with 15 peanut butter balls every day and that I could drink mass quantities of beer for 10 days and have nothing happen to me.  Boy was I wrong.  It seems I put on 8 lbs and it all went right to the gut.  My lovely abs are gone and I have no one to blame but myself.  I should have really known better!!!

Now, I’m fortunate enough that because my body is use to exercise and healthy eating that once I started back at it last week, I lost 2 lbs.  But it’s not always that easy and I have a funny feeling that the next 5 aren’t going to be fun.  What I’ve decided to do is take the month of January off from drinking and eat exceptionally well and hit the gym as often as I can and see what the results are going to be.  I’m hoping to see some remnants of at least 2 abs by the end of the month.

I’ll keep posting about my progress and bitch and complain a bit probably, but at least for those of you who are starting your gym New Years resolutions, I’ll be suffering right along beside you!
