Long time Halifax activist Muriel Duckworth passed away recently at the age of 100. Muriel was a feminist and community activist, and believed that war with its systematic violence against women and children is a major impediment to social justice.
Duckworth received numerous honours during her life including the 1981 Governor General’s Award and the Order of Canada in 1983.
Haligonia.ca will be airing a special presentation, "Practicing Peace", a salute to Muriel whose commitment to peace and social justice spanned most of a century. Tune in to our front page at 4pm on Sunday, November 1st for this amazing documentary.
