On May 2 at 10:54 p.m., members of Queens District RCMP were conducting RADAR enforcement when they noticed a vehicle travelling at 130 km/hr on Hwy. 103. The police officer activated the emergency equipment on the police vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle, however the suspect sped away.
Police followed the suspect for a short distance, when it became obvious the suspect was having trouble with his vehicle. The bumper fell off then the vehicle started to smoke, and the driver pulled over. The RCMP officer arrested the 23-year-old male driver of the car for several Criminal Code and Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act offences. Lucas Greek of Bridgewater has been charged with:
- Flight from Police
- Driving While Prohibited
- Dangerous Driving
- Breach of Recognizance
- Operating an Unregistered Vehicle
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Safety Inspection
Greek appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court today and was remanded. He will return to court on May 8.
