Springhill RCMP is investigating a stabbing incident that occurred at a Springhill residence on Church St.
On Saturday evening at approximately 9 p.m., Springhill RCMP and Emergency Health Services(EHS) responded to a stabbing incident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 59-year-old man from Springhill had been stabbed several times by a 58-year-old woman from Amherst. The victim was transported to the Cumberland County Regional Hospital by EHS with non-life threatening injuries. The woman was arrested at the scene without incident and remains in custody. Further investigation determined that prior to being stabbed, the victim had assaulted a 69-year-old man in the residence. That man, who suffered a minor stab wound, was also taken to the same hospital by EHS.
The accused is facing a charge of Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. She is set to appear in Amherst Provincial Court tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m.. This was not a random act and the parties were known to one another. The investigation is continuing and more charges are anticipated.
