Premier Stephen McNeil announced staffing changes in his office, today, Dec. 21.

Chief of staff Kristan Hines is moving to the private sector as the vice-president, public affairs, for Atlantic Canada at National Public Relations, based in Halifax.

“Kristan and I have worked closely together since 2007,” said Premier McNeil. “She’s been a very important part of this journey for me. I’ll miss having her by my side, but this is a great opportunity for her and well deserved.”

Ryan Grant, currently the deputy chief of staff, will take on the role of chief of staff.

“It’s a natural transition for Ryan, who has demonstrated his skill and leadership ability over the years and throughout his time in government,” said Premier McNeil. “Ryan is a well-respected member of our team and I know he will serve us well in this new capacity.”

The changes are effective Jan. 4.
