At 4:36 am this morning police received a call from a resident in the area of Old Sambro Road and Lee Murphy Crescent advising a truck had crashed into the ditch in front of his property.
A full size pickup truck was inbound and failed to negotiate the turn. It crossed the roadway and crashed into a nearby property striking a boulder and trees.  When officers arrived on scene a male in his 30’s was exiting the vehicle.  The male had sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the QE II hospital where he remains under police guard.  The vehicle was determined to be stolen from a local residence.  At this point offices are attempting to determine if there was a second occupant in the truck.  Officers remain on scene searching the area with the assistance of the K-9 unit.  Accident investigators are also on scene and at some point this morning traffic will be briefly interrupted.  The incident remains under investigation and criminal charges are pending against a 23-year-old man.
