HRM release:
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following updates and impacts to municipal services as a result of the significant rain and wind event from Friday, Dec. 19 into Saturday, Dec. 20.
Safety
Due to the power outages across the municipality, some traffic lights are not working. Residents are reminded that if traffic lights are not working, they are to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
Storm clean-up
Staff are prioritizing responses to reports of tree damage and debris from this storm. Residents are reminded not to clear downed trees in the municipal-right-of-way or in municipal parks for safety reasons. If there is a downed tree on a street, municipal park or in the right-of-way, residents are asked to call 311.
Halifax Transit
Most Halifax Transit services have returned to normal and are operating on regular weekend service schedules. Halifax Transit riders are encouraged to check this webpage for updates or changes to services, as high winds continue to impact some routes.
Emergency Management
The municipality’s Emergency Coordination Centre has been deactivated this morning. Staff will continue to monitor the situation and respond as needed.
