HRM release:
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that crews are focused on clearing main roads. Residents are asked to avoid all non-essential travel while cleanup efforts are underway. Limiting travel helps crews work safely and efficiently.
Municipal offices
All municipal offices, including in-person Planning & Development permit offices and Customer Service Centres, are delaying opening until noon today, Jan. 19. If there are additional delays or closures, the municipality will provide an update by 10 a.m.
Employees who can work from home are being asked to do so.
All essential services, as well as 311, winter operations and Halifax Transit are maintaining operations.
Safety is the municipality’s top priority. Delaying opening will help clearing efforts and facilitate a safer commute for our employees and residents.
Solid Waste
Solid waste collection scheduled for today, Jan. 19, has been rescheduled for Jan. 24. Please ensure any material currently curbside is removed to allow for snow clearing operations.

Halifax Transit
Most bus routes are passable. All applicable routes are on snow plan. Passengers should expect delays and allow extra time to arrive at their destination.
Parks & Recreation
The Halifax Public Gardens are closed today, Jan. 19.
Many municipal recreation facilities are delaying opening today. A decision will be made at 10 a.m. (with potential re-opening at noon) regarding whether rentals, facilities and programming activities will continue as scheduled.
