Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 (Halifax, NS) –Tonight the HRM Returning Officer released the participation rates for HRM’s Electronic Advanced Polls.
Mellett noted “ Voter participation in the closing hours of the Electronic Advanced polls in HRM was very strong.” On the last day of Electronic Voting over 11,000 (11,586) voters cast their ballots on line or by phone. Those numbers have brought overall participation in the Advanced Electronic polls to voters to 67,007 voters or 22.47 per cent of the eligible electors casting their ballots by phone or internet in the advanced electronic poll.
The Returning Officer reminds voters that it is not too late to cast your ballot. Voters can still cast their ballots in person at their local poll location (paper ballots only) on Saturday October 20, 2012.
