Stunting driver charged: 64 km/hr over the speed limit

On​ January 4 at 11:35 p.m., a member of the Kings District RCMP was conducting routine patrols on the New Minas Connector. They observed a​ vehicle travelling North at a high rate of speed and activated the RADAR. The vehicle’s speed was measured at​ 144 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr area,​ 64 km/hr over the posted speed limit.

The RCMP officer conducted a vehicle stop, and the​ 17-year-old​ male driver was charged with Stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act.​

The vehicle was seized and impounded.​ The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.

The RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
